Printer Friendly Version EMBASSY PRESS RELEASE ON THE "STORM" ACTION @ 1 August 2021 08:39 AM

On August 4, 1995, at the end of the civil war, the Croatian armed forces carried out aggression on areas in Croatia where the majority of Serbs lived for centuries. The aggression was carried out despite the fact that the area was under United Nations protection and that the International community proposal was accepted, the day before, by the Serbian people in Croatia on a peaceful solution to the conflict.

During the infamous action, as many as 220 thousand Serbs were expelled from their homes, and two thousand lost their lives.

Operation „Storm“ is without a doubt the largest ethnic cleansing in Europe since World War II.
The Republic of Serbia hopes that the international community will fully accept and recognize the scale of this crime against the Serbian people.
The Embassy expresses its deepest condolences to the families of all those killed and wounded, and hopes that such crimes will not happen again anywhere in the World.
